Hello Sweet Friends!
Each year around September, part of me (and a very big
part!) reverts back to an eight year old girl, happily anticipating all the
fun fall brings with it, and of course after that all the excitement of the
upcoming holidays. This never changes, it's the same every year and it's truly
wonderful. But after the holidays are over, all the presents are opened and the glittery decorations and pretty twinkle lights are put away, it's rather sad, and the
thought of waiting another whole year for it to come back again...is such a bummer!
:(
Happily, Valentine's Day comes next, and I can at least turn
my creative thoughts that way. :)
I think my love of hearts most certainly began when I was a
kid. Memories of my dad walking through the front door after work, with
a big, beautiful, frilly heart full of yummy chocolates tucked under his arm, always make me
smile!
With that memory in mind I've been working on some new heart brooches,
reminiscent of those beautiful heart candy boxes Dad would bring home. xo
I had such fun creating these!
Do you get a little bit sad after the holidays are over too?
What do you do to perk up your spirits?
Have you begun a special Valentine's project of your own? It really helps with those after Christmas blues! ;)
Thank you girls for all of your sweet visits and lovely comments.
I always try to respond when a question is asked, but sometimes I can't find an email address to respond to, or a comment is left on an older post and when I answer beneath that comment, most probably the person asking the question will never see my response.
So Sweeties, if you have a question, make sure there's a way I can get back to you.
I've got a yummy recipe I want to share, but that will have to wait till my next post which hopefully will be soon!
Till then, have some fun doing what you love!
xo Paulette

I adore all of your brooches, but I especially love the hearts! Yes, there is a bit of a let-down after Christmas, but it doesn't last long. The kids at school get excited about every little celebration that comes along, and their enthusiasm is contagious!
ReplyDeleteI hope the weather predictions are exaggerated and that you and your family stay safe and warm!
They are so very pretty my friend! You create such beautiful hearts! I need to get busy and bring out my Valentines to enjoy. Sweet hugs, Diane

Good Morning, Your hearts are beautiful and I was happy to see you here this morning. I have been trying to catch up with some more friends. It is always enjoyable to see what everyone is doing. You are a very talented. I am glad to see Christmas over, but that is partially due to losing a parent on Christmas Day. Each year gets better, but you still have that memory. I can remember making Valentine boxes in school for exchanging Valentines. Now they don't let them do those things. I think that is sad. Have a great day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend Shirley
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, these are exquisite! You do such lovely, beautiful work, it takes my breath away!! I totally agree with your sentiment, too ... I think it's one of the reasons I tend to leave "Christmas" up so long (I just took *most* of it down this past weekend). Because it's so sad to see it go! I keep touches of it up (like my winter red cardinals and the snowmen) and incorporate hearts with it for February and Valentine's Day. And this month I have TWO big projects that I'll get to focus on and finish up -- that's a big help!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour heart brooches are just wonderful! Love them all!
ReplyDeleteDear Paulette, how much I adore all your delicate little treasures.

Your hearts are so sweet - and not the least bit fattening either!! I find Feb. to be my hardest month - winter has been already so long and it just seems that it's never going to end. January I usually go into a 'cleaning mode' and March there are a few days that make me think that spring just might be coming.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful!! Do you sell them??
ReplyDeletewarmly,
deb
Really pretty hearts. I made glitter houses, the house is so empty
ReplyDeletePaulette it is so wonderful to see you post your beautiful Valentine Candy Box Hearts. Your stitchng and bead details are perfection. Creative Memories Bliss...
ReplyDeletePaulette, all of your hearts are gorgeous!!! Some look icy, some like sugar, all good enough to eat!! I love your work!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! I always find myself buying loads of flowers in January to try and brighten the place back up after the Christmas decorations have come down
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! These are sooooo beautiful! Truly wonderful work and so incredibly pretty! You are a master brooch maker that is sure. xx
ReplyDeleteYour work are just so inspiring! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo, soo, sooo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love your things. Is there somewhere we can buy them?
ReplyDeleteSue
Oh... sigh.... How absolutely gorgeous... Please can I make a pinterest board and pin your stuff. I would just want to sit and look at it all day. In fact if the brooches were pictures in frames I would put them on the wall of my craft room and be utterly inspired
ReplyDeleteOMG ! very nice
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the sadness after the holidays, it is a bit of a let down, and now I come to believe that it isn't those days that are what matter, but the business of and the anticipation waiting for those days to arrive. How much fun is gift giving anyways, I think that is what it is all about. I enjoyed Christmas so much more when my children were little and how they were so excited to open presents. The older they got, the harder it became to please them. Little ones are so much different. This year it was all about my grandson who will be 3 in March. He was so happy, the morning was so much fun, I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Your pins are beautiful. I love mine. I always loved hearts too and anything that sparkled. Yours definitely do that. I am so glad you didn't stop blogging. You have so many admirers and people who appreciate your craft, myself included.
