My Clothesline Obsession...

Hey Guys! :)
I know it's been a while since I last popped in.  I can't believe that a little bit ago I was even entertaining the idea of a once a week post.  It was wishful thinking I'm afraid.  Life is just so busy.   Oh well,  enough said about that because I find it ever so frustrating, and I've written about my pathetic posting before so I won't bore you with more of that now.   I hope anyone who may be reading this is happy and just enjoying each day as it comes.
Let me introduce you to my new love! (Picture a bunch of tiny hearts swirling over my head as you read this!)  That's him, right there, standing in the yard, looking ever so handsome!  (Sigh!)  I know it's odd to be in love with a clothesline, but truly ... I am! ;)

My yard isn't all that big, and the oak trees I used to have back there are now gone, so stringing a line from one tree to another wasn't an option, plus honestly even if it was an option, my husband just didn't want a line of any kind out there all the time.  Handy Husband could have easily built something if he really wanted to. :(

Figuring there had to be something I could just buy that would fit the bill, I went searching and I found this him...The Leifheit Linomatic!   I just call him Leif for short.  I talk about him so much, my friends are starting to think there must be something wrong with me!
To satisfy my husband, he takes up very little space...but when I pull his string...oh gosh, such wonderfulness happens!  (That didn't sound quite right, did it?!!)

I think whoever invented this was brilliant!  As you pull his string, his arms slide up and outward to reveal quite a bit of line.  Then when the wash is all freshly air dried, and smelling just about as good as it possibly can, I push a little button,  and like magic the lines retract into his arms as he transforms back to looking nice and neat again.

I'm loving all of this so much, I find that I'm pulling sheets off of beds to rewash even before their fresh air, Downy scent, has even faded!   Yes, it's true love!!!

Out front, my pink roses are back again and looking so pretty.   I was a little concerned that maybe they'd have a rough go after last winter's snow and frigid temps, but they're all fine... just beautiful, and perfectly pink!

New things are happening on my work table! ;)  I'm working on some clay pins in the same style as my stitched ones.  Here, take a peek...

I've still got a few things to work out, but when they're exactly the way I want, I'll let you know.

Okay then Sweeties, that's really it for now.  I hope you enjoy your weekend.  Remember to do something that makes you happy, and always remember to smile...it's such a simple thing, but smiling makes you feel better, and it makes all of those around you feel better too!  :)
See you soon! (At least I'll try to see you soon!)
xo Paulette

  1. As always, your hearts are oh so lovely.

I have a similar clothesline, but it is the less expensive model. This one I will keep in mind. Line dried laundry is so wonderful.

  3. You've reminded me of how much I miss my clothesline!! Alas, apartment living does not lend itself to having such a thing. We had pink roses too - ours were the old-fashioned single variety. Miss those (and their awesome scent) too!

  6. Hi Paulette, I would like a clothes line like yours but we are to have more rain this next week as though we haven't had enough all ready. So many rivers are out of their banks and farm land is flooded. At least it didn't rain while my 16 year old grandson took his drivers test. He passed with a 97. So proud. Your roses are so pretty and I love the pins that you are working on. They are going to be beautiful. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend Shirley

  8. Hi there lovely post, I have a washing line obsession too. There's nothing like the clean smell of washing dried outdoors. I too have a similar wash line, which takes up hardly any space. I keep mine open at all times because once I tangled mine so bad and it would not open. I really love your new style pins its good to try new things, so good luck with that. Take care x

I share your obsession about line drying....doesn't everything smell so wonderful when it's been dried outside? :) Those roses are just incredible, what a beautiful sight to come home to. And as for your clay pins...wow, they're amazing!

  12. Hello, Paulette!
I just love this beautiful and fun post. Your garden looks lovely. We too had a clothesline almost like yours but much less Deluxe. Leif is a great name; I guess you know it's a male given name of Scandinavian origin... :D
    Have a great Sunday! Hugs!

  15. Lucky you! I don't think our air is clean enough to hang things on the line. We have a mulch factory very near. Even though the county commissioners say its a clean operation, they must not be there when the scoops dump wood into the trucks to take into the building to process...what a dust bowl.

Your clay art is beautiful. I'd like to see a post on your thoughts about working with clay as opposed to fiber, and what brought you to the switch. Interesting.

Hope you are getting sunny days where you are!
    xx, Carol

  16. beautiful post! I really miss my clothes line. I was always hanging the wash as soon as the weather permited, loved the clothes drying that way, good exercise-as mine is a distance from the house, and it was near the woods line-so always just loved all of it. I lost half of it to a big wind storm, and we have had soooo much rain here just can't keep up with the mowing

  18. Maybe I'm showing my age but there is something beautiful in the old fashion cloths line between two posts. Beautiful white linen gently moving in the breeze on a bright sunny day! Reminds me of my childhood. You could smell the freshness!
I love your new venture into clay...those pins are just gorgeous!

  19. Oh my dear I can see why you are in love with Leif. I remember well how my grandma would hang the laundry out on the clothesline and rave about how fresh it smelled when dry. You are very smart to do this small way of saving energy. Loving your newest clay pins. Creative Bliss and June JOY...

  22. Paulette, the Black Paisley Heart is a stunner. Will you let me know when you are back in the shop; I signed up at the link provided, many thanks. Your new clothesline looks to be a great addition. The smell of line-dried sheets takes me back a half century in an instant.

  23. I'm the odd man out ..or woman ...but, I think I'll stick with my dryer.....

What type of clay are you using for the new pins? Paper clay? it is light so would work well, I'm sure. And, the roses on the pins? ..did you make those as well>?
You've been busy experimenting .... always a good thing... maybe I should do something with clay while I wait for my wrecked skin and nails to get back to some semblance or normal...although, clay does dry things out even further...acckkkk!!!

  26. So happy to have found your blog! Your workmanship is outstandingly beautiful !!! Have you ever thought about selling a kit or instructions for a pin? I could never hope to reach your level but would love to try. Such artistry.! I am amazed at the tiny flowers. Do you cut them out one by one or do you use a die?

  27. Hi Paulette!

Oh, Leif sure IS handsome! I can see why you've fallen in love with him. There's nothing like fresh air dried linens! Isn't it wonderful when we find something like this that works so well and makes everyone happy at the same time? Your new clay pins are quite lovely. I'm sure they'll sell like hotcakes!
We understand about blog posting. Life happens and there's just not enough time to spend at a computer. It's great to know you are doing well, creating and hanging out with Leif!

Blessings for a safe holiday, Edie Marie

  35. Hello Paulette

You haven't posted anything here since June '15 and I have been following your Etsy page too and there are no new items. Have you given up? I do hope not. I was planning on buying a few more bibelots. Do let us all know how you are. You have such a talent - it's a shame not to use it. Sue
